Areas of Practice

Clinical Supervision

As a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LW60349969), I offer clinical supervision hours for practitioners working towards their profefssional license. My areas of concentration include work with survivors of domestic violence, stalking, and sexual assault. I am a good fit for those seeking to learn more about gender-based violence and threat assessment.

My Philosophy of Supervision

I believe that the purpose of supervising social workers and other clinicians seeking licensure is to provide support to the practitioner in using evidence-based practices, adhering to professional ethics, and providing best care to clients. Supervision serves to protect clients and practitioners by providing a safe place for social workers to develop their professional skill set and ask questions.

I plan to serve as a thought partner, case consultant, teacher, and guide. Our supervision space will be collaborative and non-judgmental. Supervisees are encouraged to provide feedback and shape the content of supervision based on their evolving needs.

My expertise is in the field of gender-based violence prevention and response. I am a good fit if you are seeking to learn more about threat assessment, preventing targeted violence, and trauma-informed work with survivors of domestic violence, stalking, and sexual assault.

Theoretical Orientation

My theoretical orientation is informed by feminist theory, threat assessment, advocacy-based counseling, and traumatology. An anti-oppression analysis will be critical for our work. When working with those socialized female, I believe it is important to have conversations about undoing internalized sexism. I am aware of my privilege due to my whiteness and am committed to evaluation how our social locations, as well as the social locations of clients, impact our work. I believe it is our duty as social workers to offer evidence-based strategies and still be flexible with clients, respecting self-determination.

Model of Supervision

My model of supervision regarding case consultation is “Reflective Supervision” which involves regular convenings between a service provider and supervisor to build on the supervisee’s use of their thoughts, feelings, and values in their work with clients.

Method of Supervision

To deliver the guidance and education of supervision I use a combination of methods including case studies, readings, policy analysis, podcasts, webinars, etc.

Confidentiality

Supervisors also have an obligation to protect and keep the supervisory process confidential and only release information as required to support the supervisee in applying for licensure, or, if necessary, for disciplinary purposes. That means what we discuss is private, except in rare circumstances where a supervisee violates ethical rules or laws that require report or discipline by the local, state, or licensing jurisdiction.

You will be expected to share client information with me, but I’m bound by the same laws of confidentiality as you, so I cannot share that information other than the established exceptions. Supervisees should inform clients during the initial interview that their personal information is being shared in a supervisory relationship.

Individual Supervision is $85 an hour
